Martin Ledwick

Martin Ledwick is the Head Information Nurse at Cancer Research UK. He qualified as a nurse in 1985 and started cancer nursing in 1987. Martin has 13 years experience working in cancer information.
From 1995 to 2005 he worked for the Charity Cancerbackup. While there he worked in a variety of roles, including senior nurse, and for a time, acting director of support services. Key projects at Cancerbackup included, helping to set up and develop a second call centre, developing quality standards, developing nursing competencies in information giving and contributing to the development of a user involvement forum. In 2002 he researched the use of telephone focus groups as a tool for conducting qualitative research with users of telephone cancer information services. Throughout his time at Cancerbackup he remained directly involved in service delivery.
Since 2005, Martin has headed up Cancer Research UK’s team of cancer information nurses. While at Cancer Research UK, he has contributed to a variety of patient and health information projects, including helping to set up mobile health promotion units and, most recently participating in projects working with Macmillan/Cancerbackup and the Department of Health Cancer Action Team to develop tools to deliver the National Cancer Information Pathways and Information Prescriptions.
Martin has qualifications in Cancer Nursing, Care of the dying and an MSc in Health Promotion.
