Katherine Lane
Katherine is a qualified oncology nurse who has worked across various hospitals and cancer settings over the past 10 years, including acute inpatient oncology and palliative care, and out-patient chemotherapy and apheresis.
Katherine currently heads a team of 13 experienced oncology nurses who deliver first line support to people affected by cancer every year via Cancer Council Victoria’s 13 11 20 Information and Support Service. Katherine’s also oversees the management of the Practical Support and Supportive Care program portfolios. A large focus of Katherine’s role includes the management, oversight, and implementation of supportive care in cancer research initiatives being delivered via Cancer Council nurses in partnership with national research funding bodies and academic institutions.
Katherine currently chairs the National Cancer Council 13 11 20 Working Group, comprised of managers of equivalent services in Cancer Councils around Australia. In this role Katherine has led and contributed to a number of large scale quality assurance and best practice sharing initiatives. These initiatives are designed to streamline and enhance the practice of 13 11 20 services nationally, with a major focus on data collection, consistency and integrity in order to drive program development and promotion.
