Manager, Cancer Support; Cancer Council SA

Registered Nurse, Bachelor of Applied Science (Advanced Nursing Community Health) and Master of Applied Science (Innovation and Service Management).

Monica has over 20 years experience in both acute and community care as well as working in public, private and non-government organisations in the areas of cancer care, policy and the implementation of cancer reform initiatives. She is committed to developing, implementing and evaluating strategies that result in the provision of effective, evidence based supportive care across the pathway of care for those affected by cancer.

Currently employed at Cancer Council SA in the position of Manager, Cancer Support, Monica is responsible for initiatives that decrease distress and improve the quality of life for people affected by cancer.  Initiatives include advocacy, direct service and program provision (including the Information and support service and written information in print and online), research and education.  Monica is also the Chair of Cancer Council Australia’s National Supportive Care Committee (SCC).   The SCC develops policy and provides advice to Cancer Council Australia’s CEO and senior staff relating to supportive care for people affected by cancer.
